Dear Erick, The success Campaign for Liberty has experienced in advancing the Audit the Fed bill is nothing short of astounding. Their staff, members, and volunteer leaders have put in countless hours to create a nationwide groundswell of public support for full transparency at the Fed. As my dad wraps up his time in Congress, I know he’s excited about the tremendous chance we have to finally rein in the Federal Reserve and set the stage for further monetary policy reforms. While C4L finishes preparing for the House floor vote this month, I’m hard at work in the Senate securing additional support for S. 202, my companion legislation. As you may know, the Senate is where Audit the Fed faces its toughest challenge, but I am confident we can experience the same success there that we’ve seen in the House, if C4L can create enough grassroots pressure on the outside. Campaign for Liberty’s Director of Legislation, Tim Shoemaker, has some important information for you on C4L’s plans to tell millions of Americans about the Audit the Fed bill and turn up the heat even further on Congress. I hope you’ll spare just a couple minutes to check out his update below. For Liberty, Senator Rand Paul Dear Erick, Congressman Ron Paul’s H.R. 459, the Audit the Fed bill, currently stands at 268 cosponsors in the U.S. House, where it recently passed committee and is set for a floor vote later this month. Although there were certainly some naysayers doubting our ability to advance Audit the Fed for the second Congress in a row, I was sure I could count on hardworking C4L members to come through for us again. Just a few years ago, getting a committee hearing on Audit the Fed would have seemed impossible, yet here we stand on the verge of making history. But as we look forward to the House vote, you and I must not forget the work that remains to be done in the Senate. So if you haven’t already given to today’s Audit the Fed Moneybomb, please don’t delay. C4L needs your help to carry our incredible momentum over into the “upper chamber,” where the Fed’s powerful allies are sure they can defeat our movement. Senator Rand Paul’s S. 202 stands at 20 cosponsors, as of this writing. Although this is a great start, I know we can get even more senators on board if we make it clear the American people are demanding action. That’s why your generous donation to the Audit the Fed Moneybomb will not only go toward the final push in the House, but will help purchase ads and send targeted, hard-hitting communications to senators’ constituents urging action. If resources allow, C4L would love to run television and newspaper ads along with our Internet banner ad program to draw attention to those senators who refuse to cosponsor Audit the Fed. Senators can often think they’re a bit more insulated from having to answer to their constituents, since they’re up for reelection every 6 years instead of 2 years. But imagine C4L being able to generate millions of phone calls to their offices proving grassroots activists in their state are paying close attention and will be sure to share their senators’ position on Audit the Fed with their friends and neighbors. No matter when they stand for election, they’ll know they have to answer to an outraged public every time they go home if they refuse to support Audit the Fed and find out the full story on what happened with trillions of our dollars. That’s the kind of attention no senator wants. We just have to remind them how serious we are about passing Audit the Fed this year. What C4L has raised so far today is already enabling us to put more of our plans into motion, but this effort is far too important not to pursue with as many resources as we can. If you’ve already contributed, please forward this on to your email contacts to let them know about our Moneybomb and our Audit the Fed effort. And please send one more gift, if you can. If you haven’t donated today, please help make this Moneybomb as successful as possible by giving right away. Senator Paul needs our help to get a standalone, up or down roll call vote on Audit the Fed in the Senate, and this is another goal we can achieve if C4L can once again count on our members to come to our aid, as you’ve done so many times in the past. Thanks for your support at this most vital time. In Liberty, Tim Shoemaker Director of Legislation P.S. Congressman Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed bill, H.R. 459, has 268 cosponsors in the U.S. House and is set for a vote on the floor later this month. Senator Rand Paul’s S. 202 has 20 cosponsors, and it’s critical C4L be able to carry our momentum from the House over into the Senate later this year. So if you’ve already given to today’s Audit the Fed Moneybomb, I hope you’ll help us expand our efforts to get more senators on board by sending this email to your contacts, or even making one more donation, if you can. If you haven’t given, please do what you can right away. Together, you and I can draw millions more Americans to our side to finish this fight and pass Audit the Fed through both chambers of Congress! |
