Dear Erick, Throughout my time in Congress, I've been known to be the lone “No” vote a time or two. People often wonder how I've been able to so frequently take those stands against such massive opposition, but the answer's really quite simple. I gave my word. And I was raised in a household that believed your word is your bond. So when I took my oath of office to uphold the Constitution of the United States, I meant every bit of it. And I'll bring the same sincerity and dedication to the oath I will take as President. But to get there, I need your help now more than ever. Please, pledge today to donate whatever you are able toward our February 14 Money Bomb. Unfortunately, my opponents for the Republican nomination can't make the same promise I just did. Their records show exactly what they think of the Constitution's limits on government power. Whether it's supporting forcing Americans to buy only the health insurance the government approves of, restricting our gun rights, allowing Big Labor to continue to run roughshod over our workers, helping Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac wreck our economy, or voting to double the size of the Department of Education and to implement the largest expansion of entitlement spending since President Johnson, my opponents just don't get it. The Constitution isn't a means to an end or a campaign trail talking point you use to excite the audience while crossing your fingers behind your back. It's the law of the land. It's what we're supposed to use to bind the federal government from invading every area of our lives. Most importantly, it's what those of us trusted with public office vow to uphold. With your help on February 14, I'll keep taking the message about my unmatched record of support for the Constitution to millions of voters. I've never voted to raise the debt ceiling. (Rick Santorum can't say the same.) I've never voted to hand over millions of taxpayer dollars to organizations that perform abortions. (There's no excuse for Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum's votes to do so.) I've never supported addressing our health care crisis with force. (Governor Romney won't have a leg to stand on against President Obama on this issue.) I've never supported stretching our troops thin all over the world to nation-build. (Just one of the reasons I get more donations from active-duty military than Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Rick Santorum combined.) As your Republican nominee, I'll run on - not away from - my record. Our nation is already being driven further off course by a President who has thrown the Constitution out the window. You and I can't afford four more years of someone who will keep acting the same way, regardless of which Party's letter is beside his name. So today, help make sure America will have a President who honors his word by pledging to make your most generous contribution to my campaign on February 14. For Liberty, Ron Paul P.S. I've worked hard in Congress to defend the Constitution, because I gave my word that I would do so, regardless of how many others stood with me. Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Rick Santorum have all supported massive expansions in government power throughout their careers, so we know exactly how loyal they'll remain to their constitutional limitations as President. I'm running to give the American people a clear choice, and I hope I'll have your continued support to get my message out. Please, pledge today to make your most generous contribution toward our February 14 Money Bomb so I can keep contacting millions of voters about my unmatched record of consistent constitutional conservatism. |
