Make Your Voices Heard

Campaign for Liberty

Dear Erick,

Several issues C4L has been taking action on are expected to receive a vote today or tomorrow in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Your help today could turn the tide for liberty.

First, the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2013 will come up for consideration on Wednesday and Thursday in the House of Representatives.

As you may be aware, last year, the NDAA contained two controversial and unconstitutional detention provisions that allowed for the indefinite detention of American citizens and resident aliens arrested on U.S. soil.

With your help, C4L can stop this outrage from being allowed to continue.

Contact your representative and urge them to fix the mess Congress created by getting rid of these provisions or else voting “NO” on H.R. 4310, the FY 2013 NDAA.

Second, as C4L Vice President Matt Hawes recently informed you, Senator Harry Reid is expected to file cloture to set up an initial vote for Thursday on two nominees to the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors in an attempt to ram these nominees through with little to no debate.

C4L members need to let their senators know this is unacceptable.  A full term for a member of the Board of Governors is 14 years!

The President’s nominees, Harvard economist Jeremy Stein and investment banker Jerome Powell, are likely to be little more than rubberstamps for a more interventionist monetary policy.

These nominees must receive a thorough debate instead of being allowed to sail through on a “unanimous consent” motion.

Contact your senators and demand they support a thorough debate of President Obama’s nominees to the Fed’s Board of Governors and oppose cloture on every vote.

Finally, the Rand Paul Balanced Budget will receive a vote early this afternoon.

While you still have your senators’ staffers on the phone about the Fed nominees, urge your senators to seriously address this nation’s debt and deficit crisis by voting “YES” on S.Con.Res. 42, the Rand Paul Balanced Budget.

I know there is a flurry of activity going on this week, but your decision to set aside just a few minutes to reach out to your representative and senators on these important issues could make all the difference.

P.S.  Several issues C4L has been taking action on are expected to receive votes this week in the U.S. House and Senate.

And your pressure on Congress could make all the difference.

So first, please contact your representative and demand they get rid of the NDAA’s indefinite detention provisions or else oppose the FY 2013 NDAA.

Second, please contact your senators and urge them to vote “NO” on every cloture vote for President Obama’s nominees to the Fed’s Board of Governors.

These positions are simply too important to allow potential rubberstamps for a more interventionist Fed to sidestep a thorough confirmation process.

Finally, while you have your senators’ staffers on the phone, demand your senators seriously address our debt and deficit crisis by voting “YES” on S.Con.Res. 42, the Rand Paul Balanced Budget.

After you’ve taken these actions, and if you are able today, please consider chipping in $10 or $25 to help Campaign for Liberty continue fighting for our liberties on all fronts.
