Join Me in Tampa

Dear Erick, This is it!   The Republican National Convention is just around the corner, and the establishment is about to find out what you and I have known all along this election season – the future is ours!   So on August 26, the day before the Convention convenes, I hope you’ll join me at a special rally to celebrate how far our message and movement have come this year.   The event will start at noon at the University of South Florida’s Sun Dome.   The University is located at 4202 E. So what now?

Dear Erick, This morning, the Supreme Court released its long-awaited ruling on ObamaCare. Unfortunately, Chief Justice John Roberts tipped the scales to officially uphold the vast majority of the health care law. While the Court rejected Congress having the power to enforce the individual mandate under the Commerce Clause, it upheld the mandate as a tax. This means that not only can Congress take your hard-earned dollars to fund its out-of-control agenda, but it can also tax you for doing nothing. We’re still learning more as further details and analysis emerge. But one silver lining seems to be that our efforts on the state level to prevent the implementation of ObamaCare’s health exchanges could get a boost, as the Court is preventing the federal government from forcing the states to either implement the law or lose Medicaid funding. The decision by a Bush-appointee to join the Court's left-wing in holding up the individual mandate is being described as a political victory for Obama. Perhaps.  But it’s clear the real losers are the American people. And in one of the most dramatic expansions of federal government power in decades, both parties can claim credit. The hated individual mandate in ObamaCare has been pushed by members of BOTH parties. And now it’s been upheld by a Republican-appointed Supreme Court Justice. So what now? Since both parties haven’t hesitated to work to increase government’s power, C4L’s grassroots activists must keep up the pressure to make sure that any repeal efforts – which are guaranteed to come – aren’t just ObamaCare by another name. Simply put, you and I must continue an uncompromising fight for health freedom. Regardless of what the Court says about government forcing the American people to purchase a particular product, it doesn’t make such action right. Health care costs have skyrocketed, especially in recent years, due to relentless government interference. And now that interference will increase more than ever before. But so will the intensity of our opposition, as more people outraged by a government that has abandoned the Constitution take a stand. So it’s critical you and I not only refuse to back down, but redouble our resolve to act. It’s time to return to basics, get the government out of the way, and allow a true free market in health care. Let Americans purchase health insurance across state lines – and get rid of the “tax” that forces them to carry coverage. Stop government attacks on alternative treatments and supplements. Lower taxes, rein in the Federal Reserve, and cut spending so we not only get to keep more of our money to use on necessities like health care, but so those dollars will go further. These are just a few of the options we can pursue instead of allowing government to grow ever bigger and make another problem it helped create even worse. Campaign for Liberty will continue its fight to advance health freedom on both the national and state levels, so I hope you will help us if you can with whatever you are able to give today. Never allow any government decision - be it a Court opinion or legislation - to discourage your commitment to fighting for liberty. One Giant Leap

Dear Erick,

We are winning!

And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

This morning, Audit the Fed unanimously passed the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee by voice vote!

Only a few short years ago, just the thought of getting a committee hearing on such an issue was considered a long shot at best, let alone achieving such a remarkable victory!

But that was because the Washington establishment and the banking elite underestimated the power of true grassroots activism.

Today’s win is a direct result of hundreds of thousands of petitions, phone calls, faxes, and emails generated by passionate C4L activists like you around the country.

One congressman noted he had been contacted by “scores of constituents” supporting Audit the Fed.

As an example of why I’ve written in previous emails that nothing can be taken for granted, at one point this morning, Rep. Elijah Cummings (MD-7) introduced an amendment that, like the Watt amendment to H.R. 1207 in the 111th Congress, would have gutted Audit the Fed.

But your pressure helped keep it from succeeding!

In fact, it was truly astonishing just how quickly Representative Cummings withdrew the amendment after it became clear there was no support for it in the Committee - even from members of his own party.

Over the last four years, you’ve helped C4L make tremendous strides in bringing the Federal Reserve to the forefront of political debate and pushing the central bank toward transparency.

Of course, ultimately, America shouldn’t even have a Federal Reserve System to create moral hazard, keep interest rates artificially low, bail out friends and favored firms, and manipulate our monetary supply.

Today’s committee hearing was just one small step toward passing Audit the Fed, but also, one giant leap toward ending it.

Now, with a floor vote before the entire U.S. House in July fast approaching, I hope you’ll stand with us again as we look to jump another hurdle and carry this bill into the Senate.

If you’re not able to give at this time, we certainly understand.  Thanks to a crisis partially created by an out-of-control Fed, Americans are still struggling to recover.

How You Can Help Pass Audit the Fed

Dear Erick, The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is expected to vote tomorrow (Wed, June 27) on H.R. 459, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act (“Audit the Fed”). We’ve received word that an amendment will be offered to extend the time when the audit’s results need to be reported from the end of 2012 to one year after the bill is enacted. C4L supports this amendment, but I need your help to guarantee Audit the Fed passes the committee without being watered down and makes it to the House floor as the strong, thorough audit the American people are demanding. I’ll provide a link where you can find the members of the committee in just a moment, but first, here’s how you can help pass Audit the Fed. 1.) If your representative is on the committee, and if they have cosponsored H.R. 459, please call them right away to thank them for cosponsoring.  Along with voting “YES” on H.R. 459 in committee, let them know you also expect them to resist any attempt to water down the bill. 2.) If your representative is on the committee but has not yet cosponsored, urge them to not only vote “YES” on H.R. 459 in committee, but to clearly stand with the American people and boldly declare their support for transparency by cosponsoring Audit the Fed right away. 3.) Spread the word!  Tell your family and friends to take action and help end the Fed's rein of destruction and secrecy. You can find a list of committee members here. Even if your representative is not on the committee, please still contact them to demand their support for Audit the Fed when it comes to the House floor for a vote this July. Don't Just Get Angry. Get Active

Dear Erick, Tyranny sucks. That’s pretty obvious. And though it’s not exactly the epitome of eloquence, it’s the plain truth. TSA gropings... heavily armed federal agents kicking down innocent families’ front doors... drones patrolling our skies, and legislation allowing the President to keep Americans locked up for as long as he feels like it. Not exactly what the Founders had in mind. Getting angry and frustrated is the natural response. At least I assume it is, because that’s how all this makes me feel. But let me tell you a little secret about anger and frustration. By themselves, they’re pretty much worthless. You can scream until you’re blue in the face about what the President’s doing, or how useless Congress is, or the stupid decision your town council handed down last night that’s forcing you to change your yard to make that one neighbor happy. I’ll even grant that you may feel better for a few minutes. But what did you change? After those few minutes pass... The President is still signing ridiculously unconstitutional legislation. Congress is still proving all those funny Mark Twain and Will Rogers quotes about incompetence right. And your neighbor is back to spying on the block for something else to complain about. Which will probably be your screaming. You know freedom is the answer. Yet you feel surrounded, outnumbered, and unsure of how to create the change you want to see. But I’ll let you in on another little secret. You can be empowered, equipped, and excited about our nation’s future. All in an environment where you’re surrounded by hundreds of other people who love liberty and will motivate you to take on the establishment with more passion than you thought you had left – and more success than you ever dreamed possible. Thanks to your efforts so far, Audit the Fed stands at 241 cosponsors in the House.  Even though the Senate is a tougher road, we have 20 cosponsors, and Senator Rand Paul has pledged to force a vote after the bill passes the House. Nothing has changed.  In fact, the debt ceiling increase ensures we will add at least TEN TRILLION dollars in new debt over the next ten years. The statists and banksters are clearly out of control.  And only you and I, together with millions of freedom-loving Americans, can demand Congress finally put a stop to it all. Important National Convention News

Dear Erick, The Republican National Convention begins on August 27, and you and I have some critical work to do to get ready. As I shared last week, my campaign will have as many as 200 bound delegates and several hundred more on the convention floor who support our issues. To stand with my delegates, I will be holding an important rally in Tampa on Sunday, August 26th.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  In fact, I'm hoping we'll have a wonderful crowd.   The goal of this rally is to kick off the week for our delegates, set the proper respectful and positive tone, and prove to the GOP establishment that you and I are the future of the Republican Party - and that we stand behind our beliefs 100%. Today, I shot a video sharing my thoughts on my campaign's successes and how we will advance our ideas in Tampa.  I do hope you'll take a moment to watch it. Of course, my campaign is still competing in several state conventions still yet to come.  And we have a lot of planning to do to prepare for the convention.
